Marshall County big man Austin Rentfrow is a player to watch in the class of 2014. He averaged 13.9 points and 8.5 rebounds per game last season. Rentfrow spoke with KentuckianaPreps.com about his game and some schools that have shown interest.
At 6-foot-7, Rentfrow has a nice low post game. He can score down low using a variety of nice low post moves and he does a nice job of getting offensive put backs. He likes to do the dirty work for his, like taking charges. Last month he helped the Louisville Magic win the AAU State Tournament.
“It’s all about boxing out and rebounding,” Rentfrow said. “I like to take charges and block shots. I’m working on my offensive game and my shooting. I need to improve my free throw shooting. Playing with Magic has helped because I’m playing against good players.”
Rentfrow doesn’t hold any scholarship offers right now but several schools are showing interest.
“Western Kentucky, Eastern Kentucky, Transylvania, Belmont have shown some interest,” Rentfrow said. “Western and Belmont are probably showing me the most interest.”
With the July evaluation period coming up, Rentfrow will be a player college coaches will keep an eye on. He has the size to play at the next level.
